Salisbury Parkway
Ocean Gateway

Salisbury, MD

This highway, when built in the late 50's/early 60's, bypassed the original 2-lane US 50 (and the former US 213) which went through the heart of downtown Salisbury.  It provided a mostly 6-lane boulevard through Salisbury for travelers going east to Ocean City, or west to the Bay Bridge.

When the US 50/Salisbury Bypass expressway opened in 2003, this section of highway was recommissioned as Business US 50.

Business US 50 (westbound) splits from its parent right after the Hobbs Road traffic light east of Salisbury.  Traffic wanting to remain on mainline US 50 and utilize the new bypass around Salisbury must exit the highway here.

**  That signal has been replaced as of 2/04.

Maryland has switched to this new color scheme on it's US Business trailblazers.  It's been said the switch was made to look more like Interstate Business loops... even though Maryland doesn't have any.  Photos taken from MD 350 and MD 346 respectively.
