Shore Highway
Denton Bypass
Denton, MD

MD 404 is currently a busy corridor during the summer months... acting as a cut-off road from US 50 in Wye Mills to the Delaware shore points.  A 2-lane undivided highway through most of its journey, a short 4-lane section exists around Denton.

Construction began on the MD 404 bypass around Denton in the late '70s.  After funding problems and construction delays, it was finally completed in the late '80s.

Construction extending the 4-lane divided section east of Denton was completed in early 2005.

Special thanks to Doug Kerr for these photos!!

Construction for widening along the southeastern end of the bypass, southeast of Denton.  Note the rumble strips along the center lines.
