US 50 - Ocean Gateway
Linkwood to Trappe

Your journey on US 50 through Dorchester County gives you many scenic views. You also travel through the historic town of Cambridge. After crossing the Frederick C. Malkus bridge and into Talbot County, you get to view more areas of agriculture and other beautiful areas of the Delmarva peninsula.
Travelling west toward Cambridge. Several former alignments of the former US 213 weave along both sides of the highway. US 213 was routed along this alignment until about 1950.
Intersection with Chateau Road.
Continuing west toward the MD 16 intersection.
A now abandoned rest area on the left. This rest area was closed a couple of years ago.
Intersection with MD 16. MD 16 enters a brief multiplex with US 50 for a few miles here.

Second intersection with MD 16. MD 16 ends its multiplex with US 50 here, and continues west toward Taylors Island. This section was just made into a 6-lane highway in 2002.
Entering Cambridge on westbound US 50. Ocean Gateway here looks like your typical city thoroughfare in Cambridge, with obligatory gas stations and fast food restaurants.

Intersection for Crusader Road. US 50 also takes on another name after rounding the curve ahead... and becomes "Sunburst Highway" along with "Ocean Gateway".

Rounding the crest at the top of the Malkus bridge. This bridge opened in 1987, and was the replacement of the 2-lane Emerson C. Harrington drawbridge, which now serves as fishing piers with the center truss spans removed.
Entering Talbot County on US 50. US 50 meets up with US 213's original 1920's alignment here.
Mileage sign.
Continuing west toward Trappe. US 50 is very scenic here... traveling through a forest and highlighting areas of agriculture.
Intersection with Beaver Dam Road.
Intersection with Howell Point Road.
Intersection with MD 565 / Barber Road in Trappe. MD 565 is US 50/213's original alignment before the current 4-lane highway was built. MD 565 also serves as Trappe's "Main Street".
