Kings Highway
Freeman Highway
Lewes, DE

Once making it to Five Points, US 9 leaves its multiplex with DE 404 (which ended at DE 1), and enters a short multiplex with DE 1, bypassing downtown Lewes.  Business US 9, US 9's original alignment through Lewes, serves the business community.

Once leaving DE 1, US 9 becomes the Kings Highway, and the Freeman Highway, and turns into a 2-lane expressway, bypassing Lewes.

After meeting up with Business US 9 once again, US 9 then serves the southern portal of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, and laves the Delmarva Peninsula.

At Five Points, US 9 exits its mainline, and enters a multiplex with DE 1.

Here, Business US 9 takes over the mainline, and enters the town of Lewes.

After a short multiplex, US 9 departs from DE 1, and continues toward the Cape May-Lewes Ferry.
A short connector connects DE 1 and US 9.

Outside of Lewes, US 9 splits off and becomes a 2-lane expressway.
The short Freeman Highway section of US 9.

Note the wooden supports on the guardrails.  This section of US 9 borders Cape Henlopen State Park, and is very scenic to drive.

Here, the expressway ends, and US 9 meets up with Business US 9 outside of Lewes.

This ends US 9's trek on the Delmarva peninsula.  It will, however, continue north to Champlain, New York.
